Private tutor in Evanston, IL
Education
I am currently a senior at Northwestern University completing a BS/MS degree in mathematics and computer science. Eventually, I aim to get a Ph. D in theoretical computer science and contribute to scientific research. GPA: 3.9 Graduating June 2019
Experience
I want to help students cultivate critical thinking skills which are so vital for everyday life. They should be able to not just recall concepts, but also apply them flexibly and creatively in order to solve new problems. Towards this end, I try to introduce these concepts in a way such that the students can discover new ideas themselves and understand where they come from. From 2013-2015, I worked as a peer tutor at my high school, the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, as well as in Exodus World Relief. In college, I have taught as a private tutor in Evanston and as a TA for Introduction to Algorithms (EECS 336) in the computer science department. I am very well qualified to tutor most mathematical subjects. At Northwestern University, I have studied analysis, algebra, probability theory, information theory, algorithms, and game theory at the honors or graduate level. Currently I am doing research on the correlation clustering problem. I have won honors from the math department and earned a top 500 score on the Putnam Exam.
