Education
I graduated from Swarthmore College in 2007 with honors in philosophy and psychology, and I'm currently finishing MFA thesis in creative writing at the University of North Carolina, where I have a 4.0 GPA.
Experience
At UNC, I taught undergraduate creative writing and worked on the editorial staff of a small press called Lookout Books. In preparation for my teaching, I took graduate courses in writing pedagogy. My writing (fiction and nonfiction) has been published by The New Yorker, The Nation, the Times Literary Supplement, Granta, and elsewhere. I love talking about all sorts of writing, from research papers to short stories to personal essays. I like figuring out what makes a piece of writing tick, and (most of all) helping another person reach that same understanding.
