Experience

I am currently a Calculus facilitator as part of the Gateway Science Workshop program here at Northwestern. My job is to provide Northwestern students with challenging math problems and help them through solutions. As part of the program I also take a class in which I learn about the higher level education of science and math and my role as an undergraduate mentor. I have also done some ESL tutoring for younger students between the ages of 7 and 12 years in reading and math. I also took a class in bilingual education to enhance my teaching ability in this area. I also served as a facilitator in the EXCITE! program for about 5 years encouraging already high achieving students to continue to study and learn over the summer. Last year, I took a class in the "Study of Learning," in which the education of students in line with their development was not only studied, but I was able to gain hands-on experience through observation and interaction with students. I have professional experience tutoring in math, including general math at Haven Middle school, AP calculus and regular/ honors geometry at ETHS, Algebra and college level calculus. Finally, if I ever have an opportunity to provide my peers with any sort of help to aid in their success at school, I do it! There is nothing in the world I enjoy more than enhancing a students life with education. Education has been a huge part of my life and I never lose an opportunity to explain it's importance to others.
